Kevin's BIrthday

Yesterday was Kevin's birthday, he would have turned 30. Tera had the great idea for all of us, wherever we were across the country, to write messages to Kevin on balloons and let them go all at the same time. So we had family in Utah, Missouri, and Maryland all doing this at the same time yesterday evening. I think this is a great tradition to do every year on Kevin's birthday.

Brian, Ethan, Emma and I went to a park near our house with our blue and white balloons. We sang "Happy Birthday" to Kevin, shared a few memories, and then let the balloons go. It was an emotional day but a great way to celebrate Kevin. :)

One thing Brian commented on as we watched the balloons float away was about which way they were going. Our wind/weather always comes from west/southwest to east/northeast. When we let the balloons go, they all headed directly west. The wind never blows that way! We all agreed that the they were headed to Utah to join the rest of the balloons. :)

  1. That is really odd that your balloons floated west. Because our balloons here in Maryland floated west too! And we thought the same thing, that they where joining up with Ricks, Sims, and then on to Utah.

I hope Kevin smiled at all the balloons!

  2. Sorry about the omission in my post of family in Illinois releasing balloons. I thought Rick was in Utah, too. :)

  3. And actually Sarah and Lee were in Illinois as well. It was a great way to celebrate the day. And so nice to feel united in the celebration!!
