On Sunday we had a little Family Home Evening about the real Easter story. We went into more detail and depth that what we had on previous occasions with the kids. At 2, Emma doesn't understand much more than that Jesus loves her, which is great. Ethan just absorbed everything as we talked about the Atonement, the Resurrection, Christ visiting the Americas before he returned to Heavenly Father, etc. I could tell he was understanding more and getting what we were saying as he asked questons and looked at the pictures of the different events (from the gospel art kit, which I love!). As we talked with him about all Jesus Christ has done for us I could feel the Spirit around us confirming that what we were teaching our children was true. There's nothing greater than feeling the Spirit when you are bearing your testimony to your children! After we were done Ethan said to me, "That was a great story, Mom!" He talked about how great it was to have holidays like Easter and Christmas where we get to celebrate things about Jesus. I agree with him. How grateful I am for my Savior's love and for the opportunity he has given us all to return to our Heavenly Father with our families. Happy Easter!

I know what you mean about teaching the gospel to children. I always thought it was fun teaching the gospel to people I didn't know on my mission. It's even more rewarding when it's your own children.
ReplyDeleteCute picture, by the way.
The funny thing about Ethan is 6 months from now he will repeat what Wendy was teaching on Sunday almost verbatim.
ReplyDeleteLast night we had family home evening again and it is nice to see the kids get pumped up for that every week. Even emma is now starting to really like it. Her attention span is still too short but it is nice to hear her sing the songs now.
